I recently had the privelege of making some birthday cards for people I LOVE! My niece celebrated sweet 16! She is a lovely, talented young lady and I wanted to do a special card for a landmark birthday. One of the reasons I love cardmaking is being able to personalize the card to the recipient. Since Lois loves Paris and takes french in school, I found the eiffel tower cut on Everyday pop up card cartridge. She told me she is loving pink these days, so this is what I came up with
I also used elegant edges for the back ground and gypsy font for her name lettering. I wrote happy birthday in french on the banner.
I used a new cuttlebug folder to emboss the tower. She really loved the card.
The second card I was able to make was for a long time friend of my Mom's. I was able to add all sorts of sweet little embellishments and had so much fun. I couldn't post the finished product until she received it. She said I nailed it! So fun!! I used multiple cartridges, faux stitching, bling, stamping, stickles. Mod podge on her boots to make them shine. I embossed her apron with swiss dots. I also added her age to the pails in the girls hands, but I left that til after the picture *wink*. The stamp came for a stampsoflife stamp set. I heat embossed the inside of the card to say birthday wishes. The best part, a one of a kind card that really touched her.
Try making a card for someone, it will just warm their heart and be a blessing to yours as well!
Thanks for checking out these cards and be blessed!

Shape Card Sunday
Sarah's challenge for us this week is to make a fall card and add a button. Honestly, I really really wanted to make an acorn. I have a really cute stamp set with cute little "nut" sayings....BUT....I didn't. Instead, I used paper doll dress up and made a cornucopia shape card. I've always really liked the cornucopia symbol. Used to put one on my coffee table every fall until the children came along. :) At first I was trying use my gypsy to hide each of the different fruits so I could cut each one in a different color. It was taking FOREVER. So. laying in bed last night, it came to me...cut one cut on white and ink each of the fruits. (AHHHHHHH---that's the angel choir in my head *smiles*)
I think it turned out cute, smaller than I intended, but cute nonetheless. I inked the entire horn and added brown ink to some of the fruit pieces. I found a little leaf rub on made by K and company that I added and I'm not sure you can read it, but it says give thanks.
Now, everyone go check out Sarah and join us in the fun!!

Two Peas Inspiration
I had recently watched a video from two peas in a bucket and the designer had used a quilt paper piecing technique that I really enjoyed. I love to quilt as much as I enjoy paper crafting. I'm self taught and not a pro by any means, but oh how I enjoy a finished quilt. I, being a hand quilter, don't get that immediate gratification with quilting like I do with paper crafting because...well, for obvious reason, quilts take A LOT of time. :) There is something totally soothing about the rocking motion of quilting....Ok, back to the subject here..lol. I made this background with a paper pack that I L-O-V-E LOVE from a stack that I got some time ago in the clearance section of hobby lobby. I love all the patterns and it also has glitter, whoop whoop. Side note, in the midst of making said card, I screwed up my paper trimmer....not a good moment when you are trying to cut straight, long, one inch strips....but I ranted and raved and had to pull out an old inaccurate trimmer persevered. ;)
I cut the images from Serenade, ( a very favorite goto cartridge). I hand cut the mats for the sentiment and embossed the sentiment. OF course I had to add some bling and hemp. I love the finished product. (did I say I have a thing for birds? *wink*)

It's Monday, time for a new challenge at FCCB
I have to tell you, I'm not a fan of spiders. Not in real life anyway ;). I made this 5x5 inch card to enter at FCCB. Today's challenge was to make a halloween card with orange and black. I used the doodlecharms and wild card cartridges. The spiders came from doodlecharms and the sentiment and spiderweb came from wild card. I had exactly two orange gems that went perfectly on the large spider.
My design changed drastically from what I'd originally planned, but I like the end result. Since I have five children plus me and my hubs, I thought it fitting to put that many on the card. Most of my card stock came from the K and company stack from last year halloween ( i got it at a ridiculous price after the season) and the sentiment is glitter card stock probably DCWV.I popped up the largest spider and also the sentiment.
I reused some of my papers and wrote in white gel pen on the inside, my exclamation point is supposed to be a little spider too!
Thanks for checking out my project.

TURKEY-LURKEY
Ever heard that before?? That is the only thing that's been going through my head since I started making these cute little turkeys. I've really wanted to do a little something for all of the folks who work with my precious girl . Last year, a long time friend sent me these long cellophane bags made by Stampin Up' and I just love them, I had a few left over so I decided to make up some M&M treat packages.
Aren't they just the cutest?? I used pearlized card stock for all the turkey cuts. The turkey came from create a critter.
I made the paper rosette from a piece of fall leaf paper. I really wanted to add a sentiment to say happy fall y'all, but alas, I would have to hand write it and I just don't have time to get it done on all of them, and I'm not sure where to put it. Course, what turkey wouldn't be complete without some googly eyes!!
I cut the turkey at two inches and the paper rosette was made with a 1 1/2" X 12 " strip of paper. I was able to buy fall color m&m's. I love being able to find candies in colors that match the season. I will be entering this project at 1. FCCB- Down on the Farm challenge and 2. Cardztv Falloween challenge
Thanks for stopping by.

I have a thing for birds
Maybe it's because my mom called me bird when I was little. One of the very first cartridges I ever got for my cricut was the 3 Birds on parade. I think it is so cute. I really wanted my phrase on here to be baby it's cold outside, but it was just too big to fit on the card and I didn't have a stamp..so It just got the word friend. :) It recently got really cold here in my neck of the woods. I mean seriously, we used to have twice a year where we could get by without heating or air conditioning for a short period of time, but not this year. We skipped spring and fall and only had summer and winter. lol. I was inspired by our cold snap to cut this little bird in her scarf. In hindsight, I kinda wish I had a little coffee cup sitting on the perch beside her..wouldn't that be cute? The perch and bird come from the same cartridge. I embossed with the swiss dots folder and added some flowers to fill in the top of the card. If you look close, you'll see some "eyebrows" wink wink. I tried to stamp with a peachy keen bird face stamp, but didn't realize I was going to overlap onto the layers, so my bird got some big ole googly eyes. I think it turned out cute anyway. Thanks for stopping by.

Snowman shape card
Check out my snowman shape card...Sarah over at live, love, and scrap is hosting a Sunday challenge to make a snowman shaped card. Since she is rocking out some great cards and shares her talent via her blog and youtube, I thought it'd be fun to play along. Go check her out!!
I have recently started to really work with my gypsy and design most of my projects on there. I used a circle card cut from birthday bash ( i think). The hat and nose came from paper doll dress up.( ps I have NO idea what that nose shape is supposed to be, I just thought it looked like a snowman nose, and it works...lol) He had to have some google eyes and I used black jewels to make his mouth, looks almost like pieces of coal :). I did a little doodling with white gel pen on his hat and added a piece of corrugated card stock that I cut free hand to add detail to the hat. I think he turned out pretty cute. Just wish I had some cute theme stamps to add to the inside, but that's ok, I'll find something!! Hope you enjoyed, thanks for stopping by.

Heartfelt thanks
Since I've been paper crafting for a while, I'm growing a lot more patient. I'm finding myself enjoying more challenging tasks. I have found that my work is looking better as I take more time and do the more difficult things. I tell you, I used to hate...I mean strongly hate, to fussy cut. Let's face it, it takes time and usually the cuts are quite small. As I'm evolving as a crafter, I'm actually starting to like fussy cutting. I'm not completely loving it...yet, but I feel I'm on the way there. :)
So here's a project I made with some stamping/fussy cut action.
The label was fussy cut and the acutal stamps were from my stash. Not sure the brand, they came together, I've used the sentiment many times, but this is the first time I think I used the label. I inked each of the gray, green and purple strips (they were white cardstock strips) then cut them into banners, then ran them through my cuttlebug swiss dots folder. I stamped each of the hearts in the same colors and fussy cut them. I popped up the label sentiment as well as the hearts. The hearts are from a very old stampin' up stamp set. After I finished, I decided to hand draw on the black lines to pull together the black ink on the label.
I would encourage you to retry techniques you haven't done in a while, you just might find yourself falling in love. I was really pleased with the end result of this card and it's already been given to a friend.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you've been inspired.

I made this side step card using Life is a Beach Cartridge, Simply Charmed, and Create a Critter. The sentiment is stamped with the Designer's Choice Scrappy Mom's set. It's difficult to see int he picture, but the waves are out of glitter paper so there is a lot of sparkle. Thanks for checking it out. This is the very first time I've ever submitted a project to any type of challenge. It will be entered at Fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com Thanks for checking it out, Michelle
